Circle W Sports Launches District IV Football Power Index
Published on August 28, 2026Wellsboro, PA - Circle W Sports is adding a new way for high school football fans to follow the 2026 season with the launch of the Circle W Sports/Showcase Power Index, beginning with all 34 PIAA District IV football programs.
The new Power Index provides a data-driven look at how teams stack up across District IV and will be updated throughout the season as new results become available.
In addition to the overall Power Index rankings, fans can view strength of schedule, rankings by classification, weekly matchups and projections, along with a Matchup Calculator that allows users to compare any two District IV teams.
"We've all heard of the Born Power Index, and we wanted to put our own Circle W Sports spin on that concept," said Circle W Sports owner Ed Weaver. "We have a tremendous amount of historical data available to us, and the Power Index gives us another way to use that data to create something fun and informative for high school sports fans."
The preseason rankings are available now, providing a starting point for all 34 teams before the 2026 season gets underway. Once games begin, the Power Index will transition to weekly rankings and continue to evolve throughout the season.
"Rankings are always going to create discussion, and that's part of what makes this fun," Weaver added. "We're looking forward to seeing how the numbers change from week to week and, of course, hearing from everyone about which teams we have too high or too low."
While football is the first sport featured, Circle W Sports plans to expand the Power Index concept into additional high school sports in the future.
