April 30, 2021

The NTL Now Podcast took First Place in the 2021 Keystone Media Awards' "DVI – Weekly general news publications under 6,000 circulation" category on Thursday, April 29.

The Keystone Media Awards reinforce excellence by individuals in the news media profession, by recognizing journalism that consistently provides relevance, integrity, and initiative in serving readers and audiences, and faithfully fulfills its First Amendment rights/responsibilities. Further, the Keystone Media Awards stimulate journalists to improve their craft and ultimately improve their community.

The NTL Now Podcast debuted in the Summer of 2019 with hosts Shane Wilber (Wiggle 100 Radio) and Joe Carreon (Canton Independent Sentinel) with technical support from Ed Weaver (Circle W Sports). The podcast was created as another sports outlet for the Northern Tier League. During its two years there has been just over 50 episodes produced with over 5,700 downloads to date. Each podcast episode can be downloaded on the NTLSports.com website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, and Google Podcasts.

"I can't even begin to process the excitement I'm feeling right now," said Wilber. "When the three of us first sat down in the Summer of 2019 to talk about the concept of doing a sports podcast for the Northern Tier I was excited for a new sports platform in our area. Fast forward almost two years later and to be recognized by the Keystone Media Awards as the top podcast in the state of Pennsylvania is just an amazing feeling.

"The success of this podcast is shared by Joe (Carreon) and Ed (Weaver), those guys really helped make this dream come true from the beginning and I could not be more proud of how things have turned out. Over 50 episodes have been produced with almost 6,000 downloads. My expectations have definitely been exceeded. I'd really like to give a big thank you to all the athletic directors, coaches, athletes, various media outlets, sponsors and especially the listeners who subscribe and download each episode of the podcast. We have created something special here in the Northern Tier for the sports community and the support continues to be more than I could have ever imagined."

Carreon added, "I'm so happy for everyone involved. When this thing came together, I knew it could be something big and to see everyone's hard work recognized is awesome. I can't wait to see where it goes from here."
